Qualifications Required : Level 1 or 2 Food Hygiene Safety Certificate (desirable)

FOOD TECHNICIAN
 To operate and assist in the general maintenance of the equipment in the food room.
 To assist with the preparation, distribution and storage of resources and materials.
 To assist with the upkeep of both stock and equipment records within food.
 To inform the Head of Department and Director of Study of any health and safety implications as and when they arise and to report following the schools procedures to the Health and Safety Officer.
 To maintain a high standard of cleanliness within the food workshop.
 To assist with the preparation of ingredients.
 To carry out any other reasonable duties within the overall function of the position.
CATERING ASSISTANT
 To assist in the preparation and cooking of food as defined by the catering department specifications and provision of specials dietary meals where appropriate.
 The serving of meals, ensuring correct portion control and to contribute to the financial control of food and non-food by good stock control so to minimise wastage.
 The cleaning of the kitchen, its surrounds and equipment, catering office and toilet area.
 General kitchen duties, e.g. washing up, operation of the dishwasher.
 To help operate the tuck shop at break, if needed.
 The preparation of the dining area, including the cleaning of dining furniture.
 To operate a touch screen till at student meal times when required.
 To help ensure the correct behaviour of students at student mealtimes.
 To ensure that Food Hygiene and Health and Safety Regulations are adhered to at all times, completing necessary records and time sheets
 To report on any health and safety faults and issues immediately.
 To carry out any other reasonable duties within the overall function of the position.
Number of Positions Available : 1
Working Week : 37 hours per week Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm (3.30pm on a Friday) with 30 minutes break each day
Salary : £136.90 Per Week

Able to follow instructions, i.e. recipes, menus, guidelines, codes of practice
Able to use general catering equipment, safely and correctly
To ensure that the kitchen, equipment and surrounding areas are cleaned to the specified standard

Skills Required : Basic administration skills, i.e. completing timesheets, hygiene sheets
An understanding and commitment to customer care
Ability to work flexibly and to complete tasks to desired standards
Ability to work with others as part of a team
Ability to work under pressure and capable of moderate physical activity, i.e. lifting saucepans, standing for periods of time, washing pans throughout lunch service
Capable and willing to work on own initiative and an ability to prioritise between completing demands
To ensure that food items are to the specified standard, without any food waste

Other Information : Demonstrates an understanding of Safeguarding issues relevant to the post
This post will have contact with children and as such a satisfactory disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) is required as a condition of employment
